The partnership with Chirolaba secondary school has been running for 3 years. The school takes in pupils from Sona who receive a scholarship to continue their secondary education. The Chirolaba school also has buildings to house our 40 boarding students (at the start of the 2024 school year): dormitories, kitchen, toilets, common room, etc. The Chirolaba school is experiencing a large influx of students and therefore needs additional classrooms. That's what this project is all about.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The project in brief<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Chirolaba secondary school caters for 1,250 pupils who attend the 4-year course in 2 buildings with 4 classrooms each, in 2 shifts in the morning and afternoon. As a result, the school has a serious shortage of classrooms (an average of over 90 pupils per class!), leading to a definite deterioration in teaching conditions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To make up for the glaring lack of classrooms, which is compromising the quality of teaching, we are planning :<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  • The construction of a brick building with 4 classrooms, <\/strong>increasing the school's capacity from 50%.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • Equipping the 4 classrooms<\/strong> as well as appropriate furniture (chairs, desks, etc.)<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  • Equipping it with electricity<\/strong> and connect it to the grid.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

    We are planning :<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    • The construction of a brick building with 4 classrooms and electricity, increasing the school's capacity by 50%.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    • - The provision of furniture, school equipment and reference books.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Construction schedule :<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Construction takes around 6 months. The structural work and waterproofing (the first 4 months of the project) must be carried out during the dry season, between September and June.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Impact of the project :<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Directly: the 1,250 pupils and teaching staff.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Indirectly: families and the community by improving the quality of education, as well as through the economic impact of the construction and the jobs created during the works.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Thanks to you, we've already raised CHF 135,600! Let's keep up the good work and reach our budget of CHF 158,500!<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
