On Saturday 13 January 2024, the SHMS and the Palace de Caux hosted the 2nd Charity Gala evening organised by the Foundation and the students and teachers of the prestigious school, after November 2019. This is an extraordinary opportunity to raise funds and meet up with our loyal supporters in the magical setting of the castle on the heights of Montreux.
Le Palace de Caux
Built at the beginning of the 20th century on a magnificent plateau on the heights of Montreux (VD), the Palace de Caux is now home to the prestigious SHMS (Swiss Hotel and Management School). The palace overlooks Lake Geneva and faces the magnificent mountains of the Alps. It is an exceptional venue for receptions, and the SHMS has given us the opportunity to hold gala evenings there, organised entirely by the students and their teachers. All the proceeds from the registration fees go to us!

A very successful charity evening
The evening is an opportunity for us to raise funds, through registrations and the lottery in particular. We raised nearly CHF 9,000 on 13 January! It was also an opportunity to complete the sponsorship of the class of 2024, comprising our 10 children - 5 boys and 5 girls - who are studying at the Chirolaba secondary school (find out more about the Chirolaba secondary school). sponsorship). A tremendous financial success that will enable us to continue moving forward with our projects.
This charity gala evening is also a unique opportunity for our team to meet our loyal supporters, or at least some of them, those who live near Montreux. So it's a pleasure to chat with those who follow our Ethiopian adventures! And to do so in the idyllic setting of the Château de Caux is an incredible privilege. It gives us plenty of energy to continue our mission to serve the children of the high plateaux of Simien.
Video of the history of the Foundation
For the occasion, the team has put together a video which, in just 11 minutes, traces the history of the Foundation from 2015 to 2023. We invite you to (re)discover how far we've come, and the emotion we've brought to the images here.
