3 years after our discovery of Ethiopia and 2 years after the creation of the Foundation alone, the first stone of the future Sona school has been laid! An important event in the life of the Ethiopian highland community, and in the life of the Foundation as it enters the operational phase of the construction and works.
So it was on 30 April 2018 that the authorities of Sona, the Arquazillé region and the District of Janamora officially laid the foundation stone for the project. foundation stone of the Sona school, in the presence of Eric Collet, President of the Children in the Cloud Foundation.
Construction of the school gets under way!
With just a few days to go before the start of the rainy season, it is above all a symbolic act to demonstrate the progress of the project, the unfailing motivation of the Sona and the Foundation. So it was in jubilation and sunshine that the "first stone" was cut and laid in the centre of the courtyard, under the national flag.
An update on the site
The rainy season prohibits any work but it does not prevent the preparation of it. Thus the elements of the foundations are collected, in particular stones which are gathered near the building site. This one really starts these days with the installation of the good weather and the arrival of the site manager. The first building with its 4 classrooms should be completed in about 4 months. The sanitary building is also a priority.
