Presentation of Rambertville
(source rambertville.ch) Shortly before the summer holidays, the Rambert College in Clarens functions like a city, in a reduced model. It allows its inhabitants - the pupils, supervised by teachers - to organise cultural events (concerts, theatre, exhibitions, games, etc.) for their visitors (parents, friends, political authorities, ordinary people from Clarens and the surrounding area). The latter can also eat at the various stands dotted around the site, especially since a currency, the "rambert", is issued for the occasion by an ephemeral bank and governs all financial transactions in this urban microcosm. Other services, as varied as a second-hand shop, a road service, a day-care centre and a television news programme, are also part of the project. Through their design and management, they also contribute to developing the transversal skills (know-how, but also life skills) of the students who, as a result, feel empowered and therefore valued.
The fourth edition of this project, planned every 3 years, takes place from July 2-4, 2018. Placed under the sign of nature, this future event offers, on the one hand, opportunities for projects, such as planting trees, creating gardens... On the other hand, it hosts a market of craftsmen, market gardeners and producers of the region. If the need arises, some students have the possibility of finding an activity in contact with professionals, and thus acquire a unique experience.
Children in the Cloud invited
Our Foundation was privileged to be invited to take part in this wonderful event. First of all, it had a stand where it could present its activities and sell Ethiopian handicrafts and coffee. It was a great success, and the Foundation raised nearly CHF 800!
Eric and Hervé also screened the documentary Children on the roof of Africa and to exchange with the students. The film presenting the living conditions of the families, and in particular the children, of Simien made the students react strongly and many of them then showed their solidarity at the stand! A heart-warming reaction and an educational work that is undoubtedly part of the Foundation's mission.
