Mountain farmers - from Sona (Ethiopia) to the Diablerêts
It is a FIFAD tradition to devote an afternoon to the situation of mountain farmers. Climbers meet them on their way up without seeing them. And yet their situation is sometimes very worrying. Why do some of our farmers choose to die? How can we give them the support, help and relief they need? And elsewhere, how are things going? Let's try to answer with 3 films.
Alptraum - from Manuel Lobaire at 13:00
Alta, by Lionel Charlet
Children in the Cloud, by Hervé Doulat / Eric Collet at 14:30
Original footage shot for FIFAD 2017 in Sona, a farming town situated at an altitude of 3500m on a rolling plateau bordering the Simien Mountains National Park in Ethiopia. Eric Collet and Hervé Doulat met while trekking in these mountains. They fell in love with this region of some 10,000 inhabitants who live from agriculture in extreme poverty and difficult climatic conditions.
Our two travellers decided to get involved and created the Children in the Cloud Foundation to support the education of children from this population with limited resources and excluded from all forms of development and economic aid.
Come and share this afternoon
